which frit to use in slip

Hi Clayart,

I am looking for information about a slip that can be finely sprayed over
clay sculptures to give them a nice finish. It is made with the same
claybody that is used in the construction of the piece with the addition of
5% Frit. The person who told me could not remember which frit it was but
said he had heard that it worked very well. Has anyone had any experience
with this? Do you know of anyone who uses this type of slip over their
work?

I would appreciate help in finding the number of this frit.

Any boron frit would be fine, especially one low in alumina since there
will be lots on the clay. 5% is probably not enough. Try a line blend up
to 25% to get exactly the surface you want. The more frit the smoother
and more silky it will be.
