Hello group,

I am in search of a good, foodsafe, liner glaze for the ^6 range. If anyone
has a recipe that they would be willing to share, either post it or send it to
me via email.

Thanks,

Heather Massey

Shutting up now, I'll just finish by saying that my point still is that t=
he
term "liner" does not denote anything other than the fact that the glaze =
is
placed on the inside surface of a piece. At some point in history, it
could mean a totally safe, durable glaze if we could all get together and=

sanction this sort of definition and action.

I tend to agree with a lot that Craig and Vince have said on this. The
term has been around since the 60's.....when no one was concerned in any
way with the leaching of anything much other than lead.....and even not s=
o
much that. I don't think you should try to read too much into any
non-standardized (with a legal definition) term ....or assume that someon=
e
else has the same understanding of the term as you do.

Look at the various "understandings" we have seen here of the term
"maijolica" . (Was that a "Lyner glaze" ?)

"Liner glaze" currently has about the same exact definition in ceramics =
as
"handmade" does, and god knows that we have gone around and around on the=

"handmade" thing with little agreement.

If you want to know if a "liner glaze" meets your personal definition of =
a
"liner glaze", you might need to look at the molecular formuala and the r=
aw
material sourcing, do some careful "home testing" for things like fit and=

surface durability, and have it leach tested on your clay under your firi=
ng
conditions.

There's "liner glazes" and then there's "liner glazes" .

Best,

About the nicest I have seen is inside a mug I got from Elca
Branman at the Charlotte mug exchange. Translucent satin
white. So nice to touch. I love washing that mug.

I'd be happy to send the formula, a cone 10 reduction, of course if you
want, but i will be gone for 3 weeks. If interested, let me know around
