Since we're speaking of summer workshops, do any of you know of art
centers or workshops in Los Angeles or environs, San Diego, Fresno CA,
Santa Barbara CA, Palm Springs or any place in southern California? I
think I may be missing a bet here by not looking closer to home although
I've loved the workshops I've taken further afield...the travel, the
wonderful people, the community of potters, the opportunities to learn,
learn, learn.

Hi Joyce,
Consider joining the American Ceramics Society - Design Chapter.
They're located in southern Cal and have a lot of activities. You can
see what activities they have scheduled for the summer at:

Hello all-
I have just moved to Mckinney,Texas and am looking for
a community art center in my area to take pottery
classes and have access to a Studio.
I have looked on line and made some phone calls but
have had no luck.
I hope you have some suggestions.

Sarah, you may have to drive to Denton (about a half hour)
to find a place to do ceramics. You can take classes
at University of North Texas or Texas Woman's University,
there. They both have decent ceramics studios, but I'm
not sure of any restrictions that may be in place
regarding classes.
I don't know off-hand of any ceramics classes/studios
in McKinney.

Sarah--
Check out the classes at Collin County Community College. They have a
great program in north Plano, shouldn't be too far from you. I work at the
Craft Guild of Dallas, which is probably too far to drive from McKinney on a
regular basis, but you can check out our schedule on line at
craftguildofdallas.com. We are having some great workshops. Sam Chung is
coming in November for a three day workshop, and Nick Joerling will be her
in January for a week.
