Kevin, you were right on about Ian's workshop. I took his class in N.C.
two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am one of those glaze impaired
persons. Thank goodness he did not go into loads of theory and
calculations. He gave us some basic instructions and it was hands on
from then on. Some theory came later which was easily understood since
we had already done it. Then you have about 35 glaze choices off each
clay body you glazed to choose the best. This is the way to go. Thank
you Zoie for hosting a great workshop.

It would be best to talk to Ruth Ballou who organised the schedule.

Her E-mail: rballou@mnsinc.com

He's probably on the west coast by now.

Hi:

Ian left for Australia last tuesday. He said that he'd like to come back at
some time but who knows when that will be. It was good to have him here and
you can always access his book and the recent article in Ceramics Technical
if you want to try his method of understanding and developing glazes. I
highly reccommend Ian's work. If you need help, send e-mails to Clayart.
Lots of folks on the list are familiar with Ian's work.

regards, Craig Martell-Oregon

Ian is back in Aussie land. I'm sure he would love to return if there
were enough requests for workshops!

Yes, Ian is interested in returning. It's too early to say when or where,
but I'm pretty sure he'll be back. Anyone who's interested in either
hosting a workshop or participating can drop me a note privately and I will
add your name to the list of those to notify as soon as I know something.

How much does he charge per workshop? How long is the workshop? How many
participants? What to charge the participants?

Thanks, Corinne

Greetings all. Just for the record, I attended Ian Currie's workshop in
Salem, Ore. two weeks ago. It bordered on a religious experience- what an
eye-opener! Having had minimal knowledge about glaze formulation, I now
have the information I need to do the experimentation that's been in my
head for a long time. I learned more in those 2 and a half days that I have
in the past 5 years. Ian is a wonderfully gentle soul who is truly
interested in your particular questions and ideas. It would be well worth
your time to attend one of his workshops regardless of your level of
knowledge. Thanks again to Craig for bringing him to Oregon. Maggie in
soggy Mt. Shasta.
