Hi!
The recent discussion on Majolica pinholes brought up something that intrigued
me about the claybody used for Majolica. I have been doing some research on
red clay bodies and Richard Selfridge's post on using frit as a body flux,
instead of talc (which the current body I use has), sent me back to the books.
I have found some recipes which use frit 3150 as a body flux. But I can't
find much out about this frit and it's not listed with the other frits (like
3124) in my pottery supply catalogues. Does anyone know anything about this
frit and approximate costs/lb?
Also, does anyone have any insights that they would be willing to share about
the proportions needed to substitute a frit like 3124 (or 3150, if it exists)
for talc?
Thanks!
Cynthia
