I have a friend relocating to Brunswick Maine who would like information
about
Maine Potters. She is interested in knowing who is out there and also where
she could pot.
Thanks in advance,

Hi there!
Tell your friend to pick up a copy of the Maine Cultural Guide when she
gets here...its available at many businesses (free). The 1998 issue
will be out in late May I believe. Although it doesn't list all the
potters it will give a good starting point. She can have the Maine
Crafts Assoc. in Deer Isle send her a copy too. She'll find many by just
driving around too. Here in the Boothbay Region she'll find Edgecomb
Potters, Sheepscot Potters, TB Pots(me!), Hannigan Pottery, Damarscotta
Pottery and Salt Box Pottery. At the end of June she can head over to
Naples to Pottery by Celia and check out the 2nd Clayart Show.

On another note: To all Mainers, or anyone really...Watershed Center for
the Ceramic Arts is holding different FREE public forums on our Coastal
Clay Community. I went to the first one last night discussing the
history of pottery and brickmaking in Maine, it was very interesting.
Here are the upcoming ones:
Saturday May 9. Forum II Location Watershed Center for the Ceramic
Arts, Edgecomb Maine 207-882-6075. Workshop on Tile Making with Paul
Heroux.Bring your own clay working tools. Clay provided. Bring a
favorite food in your favorite clay pot for a pot luck lunch. Hours are
10-5pm.

Wedn.May 13. Forum III 284 Cumberland Ave Portland. 4pm.
Job opportunities in the Arts. Topics: who are career artists working
in clay in Maine: What kinds of careers are available? How can
teachers promote the arts? How can the clay community help students and
teachers?

Thurs. May 21. Forum IV. Abbott Room, Belfast Library. 106 High St.
Belfast. 7pm. Topics: What are the benefits of cooperative marketing?
Who should participate? What form should it take? How much would it
cost? How would the results be disseminated? How do we get started?
