on several occassions i have been in very primitive locations
and had to make an arch.
i have found the easiest way to get a layout is set the brick on
end, make the arch that you want on a flat surface with the
bricks that you have.....get it just right.
then draw a pattern on that surface with chalk....then make
the wooden frame to hold the bricks.
i like to see it on the ground first...actually see the arch...
stand above it....change it around, make it higher, lower,
use whatever brick is around....then you know it will work.
most brick companies will figure your brick needs, arches, wedges,
straights, but i still like to look at them before i build.
of course i build flat tops.
or use a module.....
but many people like to build in the past.
use a kick wheel and have a horse to get them to town.
and talk about how `pretty my arch is`.
me, i like my big dodge pick up.
made a glaze the same deep blue green as the truck...won
a bet.
we call it `truck green`.
mel/mn looking to the `future of kilns`....there is one you know.
