Can anyone make me my dream kiln? I want it to be suitable for both glass
fusing and raku, cone 6 electric and cone 10 reduction. I want it to be
at a comfortable height with an opening front door, a bit like a fridge.
I don't need to make pieces taller than 20 inches, but I like wide pieces,
say a 36 inch circle or square. Finally, just in case, I'd like it to be
expandable. All this should cost me under 2000.
Don't all laugh at once. Maybe a designer could make one? Oh- did I
forget to mention, I'd like it to have an electronic control with soaking
and cool down programs as well as heating programs. It should have a cone
sitter shut off for back up.

Hi Leslie,
Yes, "but we can only make it this big". ha,ha...........
Seriously:
We have made quite a few "combination" glass/pottery kilns complete with
electronic controllers & a kiln sitter functioning as either an overtemp
device or "just in case the electronics fail". All of them have been top
loading. Front loaders are quite a bit more expensive, mostly due to the
cost of materials (case, door, insulation) & labour.
You might be best to buy a used front loading kiln (in good condition) &
add on an electronic controller & stick a burner in the side.
As far as the Raku part goes, I would recommend coating the elements to
protect them from the atmosphere in the kiln chamber.
Expanding? Great idea. I will put some thought into this. (Love a good
challenge).
I should thank you for your e-mail....One of the best kiln questions I`ve
seen in a while.
