chromium levels in the blood...

I just heard from my doctor that the chromium levels in my blood are very
high. My blood: .019 and the recommended level less than .005. I use one
percent chromium in one glaze and fire this glaze in reduction outside.
I've already done a bit of research (on the web) and found that there are
at least three types of chromium detectable and all vary in toxicity to
organic hosts (that's me).
What I have not been able to find: a) is chromium difficult to flush from
the body b) is a 'high' level the result of long term exposure or will any
exposure show up immediately c) is there any glaze-erosion style tests
available for chromium. (I've heard the test for lead will show some other
heavy metals).
Believe it or not there is a big push on chromium in the 'health' industry
right now - the stuff is supposed to be healthy.
The info I've found so far suggests that long exposure can cause kidney and
liver damage and eventual death. However I have no time for fear mongering
and don't know if these case studies were conducted on subjects who drank
water from a plating plant in Mexico.

Any response appreciated.
