Hello out there. I am a baby in the pottery world (only been throwing about a
year). I am wondering if there is a ^10 oxidizing glaze recipe for yellow
and/or orange. I use a nice spogamine glaze that is very earthy and muted
orange, but I am after a more brilliant color. Also, I have nothing to speak
of in yellow. Any help would be appreciated greatly!

Buy some Ceradac (sp?) inclusion stain, and add 5 to 10% to a
good ^10 base glaze. There is a bright yellow and a real orange.
I promise you will have yellow and\or orange.
The stains are about $40 a pound, as is the bright red, but half a pound
will color a gallon or more of glaze. The manufacturer claims that
the stains are food safe, but since cadmium is involved, I do not,
and suggest you do not, use such glazes as liner glazes. I buy the
stain from Trinity Ceramic Supply in Dallas.
