A true test of the Clayart resource:
I was thumbing through the book entitled " Handmade Tiles" by Frank
Giorgini (quite a nice publication, I might add), and was excited to see a
glaze which would be *perfect* for a project I am currently working on. It
is featured on page #123 in the upper right hand corner on a tile by Dale
Wiley entitled 'Scarab' -1987.
It seems to be a matte bronze-green glaze with a slight metalic
undertone...coming through like metal where thin...in fact it looks just
like a piece of patina-ed bronze.
Does anyone know of a glaze recipe that would yield these results? I am
also looking for any type of rusty metal, crusty glaze with a matte
surface.Thanks!

This glaze looks like the scarab one on p.123 of the Giorgini book. In our
shop we have a recipe box where students add recipes we're using.
This was christened "Pam's Green weathered bronze" although Pam got it from CM
back in 1993 or so. I know it doesn't equal 100 but I think it may have been
adjusted for ^6. -nice glaze.
Green weathered bronze ^6
Lithium Carb 2
Strontium Carb 40
Neph Syn. 120
Flint 18
Ball 20
Add
Titanium 5
Copper Carb 5

Dear Bonnie and Clayart list.
Thanks for locating the origin. I was not aware of the exact article from
which my student found it since I was on sabbatical. I missed a lot of reading
in 93-94 because I was out of the country.
Bonnie has supplied to source of weathered bronze to none other than Pete
Pinnell. I always like to give credit where it is due.
