The 6th Strictly Functional Pottery National is over for another year, the
unsold work has been shipped back, and checks will be in the mail tomorrow.

People who came to the exhibition voted on their favorite piece...

The $100 PEOPLE'S CHOICE winner is....
Sandi Pierantozzi, for her Teapot and Five Cups

Runner up is... Bob Archambeau for his sandblasted Covered Jar.

Close behind were David Funk for Shot Cups in Pop Bottle Crate, and Patrick
Dougherty for his Serving Bowl.

Shannon Williams gets the BEST PACKING AWARD, (no money, just honor...) for
the packaging of her Watering Can (which also got Best of Show, by the
way.) She took a large piece of foam (perhaps part of a mattress) and
beautifully carved a space that exactly fit the watering can. It was
beautiful by itself!

Cynthia Bringle did a great job to select a wonderful, colorful, exciting
show. We sold 47% of the pieces, which was very good.

You can still see the entire exhibit on the World Wide Web at

Next year's juror will be Warren MacKenzie. If you would like an
application, please send me your snail-mail address. Applications will go
out in October, and the applicaton deadline is January 30, 1999.
