Hi, JuliE (with an E)! Try laying your frames on a thin bed of silica
sand or some other medium that will allow the clay to move as it shrinks
during the glaze firing (the silica will act like tiny ball-bearings). It's
possible the clay is "catching" on your shelves, thus creating stress. I
sometimes have problems with tiles cracking---some loads almost half will
crack, and some loads NONE crack. Who knows? Good luck---keep trying.
