OK just a little more about pinholing. Soaking is good. Controling the
temperature fall is better. In a kiln that is fully loaded you could turn
of the heat source and the temp would fall at 50F/hour. On a lightly loaded
kiln the temp could fall 300F/hour. I prefer to let the temp fall at
50F/hour for the first 100 degrees. This gives the glazes time to stop
boiling and smooth out. This reduces pinholing on my work.

I really dont mean to be trifflin, but the way I usually fire Mayolikah is to
pump up the volume, I have this funny belief that glazes should be fired fast,
since I usually bisque for two days (cooling included), and since I suffer
from immeadiate gratification disorder I usually crack the kiln at 600, (or
more). My question is why do I not get pinholes?
