"fused oxide chemistry" for ceramics

I'm afraid that "fused oxide chemistry" as a definition isn't correct. A
lot of the high tech ceramics are made up of carbides, borides and nitrides
( or an assortment of other exotics ), with no oxides in sight. For a lot
of the cutting edge ceramics ( no pun intended.....but it did come out
good anyhow) a clay or an oxide would be a serious contaminant.

With new things being found and developed daily, I'm satisfied with the
term,
" Wow, look what I made...cool stuff ! " Though not technically correct,
it simplifies life.
