A friend just sent me some samples of two different numbers of fritted
iron, both from Ferro. One is #5151, the other #4346. Does anyone
out there have any experience with either of these? Anyone have an
analysis? What would be the advantage of using these over using raw
iron? My friend is the techie for a tile factory that has just
converted to roller-hearth fast-fire kiln, and he says all their
colorants must now be fritted. Would this be the only situation where
fritted iron would be preferable?
Thanks, and now I'm going downstairs to unload the first tests using
this stuff out of the kiln, hopefully without burning the fingerprints
off my fingers.
