I *always* wash my hands with anti-bacterial soap after working
with clay or glazes. Yes, it dries one's hands badly, BUT I've
never had the "creeping cruds" (infections) that others
have talked about on the list. I don't use anything in my
throwing water other than water either.
Another good suggestion - vent WELL when using hot wax on pot
bottoms. Even in the dead of winter, I open the door and put
a fan behind me.
Other ideas?

Hi cat lady,
one option would be to use a barrier cream,
the one i use is Crima Gel made by Stelmagel in Montrial,Canada.
It is a well designed mixture that you do not feel once applied and it
protects your skin against many chemicals.
We use it in steel mills against organic chemicals and even against
corrosive inorganic materials like lime.
Main ingredients are H/E emulsion,propylene glycol,stearin,magnesium salt
imidazolydinyl,urea,vitamine E,aloes,glycerine,CMC.
