rescuing fired on stuck lids

I haven't tried the "microwave method" mentioned in the following post,
but did have a teapot lid fire together after a wonderful "juicy" glaze
ran down and over the edge! After getting together oven mitts, ice cubes
and a "what do I have to loose" mind set, I put the teapot in my cold
kitchen oven, heated it up to 350-400 degrees F for just a few minutes,
opened up the oven, grabbed the hot pot with kitchen oven mitts, and ran
the ice cube around the rim/lid area-then, with a little thwack, the lid
came free without damaging anything else. I used a dremmel tool to grind
off the little sharp glaze edge. Hope this helps save someone else's
entombed pot. . .

I haven't tried this but I think I read/heard somewhere to put containers
with stuck lids in the microwave ALONG with a container of water (very
important to have that liquid in there) and heat them up a little. I'm
assuming the expansion from heating pops the little glaze spots between
lid
and gallery loose. Anyone familiar with this method?

Marcia ,

I have also had some lids stick and no amount of tapping would loosen them. I
put them in my refrigerator (not freezer) to get them cool (though I suppose
this may work at room temperature and then poured hot (close to boiling) water
from the tea kettle on just the lid of the pot. I could hear a little noise
as the air escaped around the rim and the lids lifted off. The glaze held up
nicely too, no crazing. Almost seemed too easy.
