I haven't used sand in glazes, however, I have used kyanite and grog and it =
does
add texture. I have also used glazed tiles with a texture and a gloss glaze=
and
not had a problem with them. If you want to see how glazed tiles wear, look=
at
floors. Funny, I was looking at the tiles in the foyer of a grocery store -
matt glazed - and the =22flashing=22 had worn off in front of the doors. =
Tile
stores display tiles on their floors and in our local store there are some
Seneca glazed tiles on the floor that show little wear after several years.
Sealer is ok however, it has the problem of wear and when it is time to redo=
the
traffic area you may need to strip them. A lighter coat won't have that
problem but also lacks as much protection as a heavier coat. I did wax some
tiles once with paste wax and they held up fine. They were cone 6 terra =
cotta.
