Another look at the subject, briefly.

I think we're all in this field because of love. It gives us a great
deal of satisfaction just to be handling the material, to be going
through the process. Whether or not you happen to think you have talent,
it's something you have to do.

Given that point of view, I would postulate that the return on investment
is the same for all, be you Bernard Leach, Peter Voulkos, or just little
old you or me...ie. a great sense of satisfaction to have done something
well, whether a massive sculpture, a world class pot, or just a new mug
that fits the hand and lip well. Isn't it enough?
