Terry Sullivan, Nottingham Studios on wed 24 jun 98

Hi fellow clayarters from the Nottingham Center for the Arts.
We have a large facillity in beautiful no. San Diego county ( San Marcos, CA)
The Center is located on 4+ acres of Manufacturing zoned property in an area
that is transitioning from rural to suburban.
Palomar Community College is one mile away and has a large art dept. offering
Hot Glass, Bronze casting, Ceramics, Sculpture and one of the most outstanding
wood working programs in the state.
As we begin offering studio positions and workshops our main interest will be
mainly ceramics orientated but will expand into other mediums as we are able.
There is a wood shop and sculpture studio along with the ceramics facility.
After a year of site and facility preparation we are ready to offer various
levels of studio participation:
Lab Tech. Needs all around skills and knowledge found in a good college level
ceramics/ art dept lab tech. ( knows most ceramic processes and materials,
good general ability with tools and equipment, gets along well and is helpful
with others, is commited to life as a producing ceramic artist.
This position comes with onsite residence ( utilities included )
availability, ample studio space, use of all shops and equipment, generous
materials and kiln use, acres of outside space ( zoned mfg. ) and a small
weekly stipend in return for aprox. 20 hours per week work at the center (
including work shop assistance).

Studio scholarships, one to six month ( possibly longer) terms with studio
space, use of most shops and equipment ( comensarate with knowledge and
responsibility), moderate free materials and kiln use with possible stipend
and residence in return for 10-20 hrs/week work around the center.

Other types, levels and terms of participation are open for discussion.
Getting a new non-profit studio arts center going takes lots of work and
commitment. We welcome any help you wish to give. The work is free, lunch
provided.

Thanks all and please spread the word, Terry Sullivan (Director and chief
gofer)
