We will be in Seattle on the 27th of June to July 3rd. We are potters in the
San Diego area. I would appreciate any information on potters open to visits
and an exchange of information in the area. What are the "must see" ceramic
oriented places in the Seattle to Victoria vicinity? Any great bed and
breakfast recommendations? Is there a place called "Potters Island" in the
area? We plan to go as far as Victoria on this short visit.

Any potters coming to San Diego area please feel free to call or drop by my
studio. I do functional cone 10 ware (porcelain and stoneware) with lots of
copper reds and sculpture too.

Don't miss the anual Washington Potters' Association show at the NW
Craft Center at Seattle Center. That's where the Space Needle is.
The show comes down June 29, so go se it right away.

Robin Hopper has a gallery, studio, and beautiful garden outside Victoria,
B.C. It's about an hour from the center of Victoria by city busses. Well
worth a visit!

Depending on their monthly show schedule, a couple of galleries feature
artsy-fartsy clay now and then: MIA, Greg (I think) Kucera and Foster
White Galleries, all in Seattle. Foster White also has a location in
Kirkland. There was also a new gallery featuring fine ceramics that was
right across from the Seattle Art Museum, and the Wolfgang Puck
restaurant--can't remember the name.

Have fun in Seattle,
Cynthia Spencer in Oregon
but who gets up there now and then.

Also consider the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a branch of the Seattle Art
Museum, on Capitol Hill. Here is a description from their web page of
an ongoing ceramics exhibition:

This comprehensive survey of Chinese ceramic history from the 6th
millennium BC to the 15th century A.D. is represented by nearly 300
stunning examples from two major private collections. The collection
of Jiurutang, Hall of Nine Fulfillment's, is a first-rate assemblage
of Chinese ceramics prior to the 15th century. The collection of
Jinglexuan, Studio of Serene Pleasure, concentrates on objects from
the 11th to the 15th century, when China became synonymous with
porcelain.
