Greetings,
I have just returned to Chicago, (as well as CLAYART)...

My questions are:
1. Any suggestions of a studio/facility to join in Chicagoland where I can =
do=0Amy
work and fire it?

2. Is Lill Street still around....I'm having trouble locating =
them/phone=0Anumber.

3. Where are some good places to show/sell fine crafts....(gallery quality).

4. Are there any exceptional high school or prep school ceramic programs?

Thanks=21

3 Dogs Pottery??? When did the name-change take place? I considered calling my
place 3 Katz Pottery (of course, in honor of my 3 cats). Settled on
"ClayThings by Cullen" Works for me since I'm not sure what I make, just
ClayThings. If you ever get out in the Naperville area, give me a call I'd
like to show you the place and sit ands talk pottery.

I extend that invitation to anyone in the area. I find discussions about
potting and pottery (i.e. CLAYART) stimulating and enlightening. After an
afternoon of talking I go back to work(?) energized like the pink bunny.

Last weekend Barney and Paul, from "Hunter Jaguar Studio" stopped by and
because these guys are so "Pumped-Up" I got pumped-up. BTW, We connected on
CLAYART.

I'm at 630-357-3320. Call and I'll give you directions.

Keep Centered.

Jim
Several people have inquired about the name change from "Shiresham
Pottery" (sort of named after a village in England where I lived for
several years) to "3 Dogs Pottery". I was the unwitting victim of a cold
and callus bureaucracy. Being a city employee myself, I should have been
better prepared.
As for the name. When I went downtown to get a new sales tax number (the
state said that because I changed my product from computer programming
to pottery, I needed to get a new tax number) I stood in line at the
state building for 3 hours and finally got to the desk of highly trained
and skilled civil servant taking applications for sales tax numbers.
She glanced at my application and said "gimme a name and do you make any
of these?", so I told her "Shiresham pottery and do I make any of
what?". She looked at her computer screen and said "there is a company
named Shesung imports, you name is too much like that one, gimme another
name." She then pointed to a little ceramic dog on her desk and
continued "any dogs like this, I need three more for my nieces". At this
point I was a little befuddled, trying to think of another name and
respond to her question and and uttered "3 dogs... no I..". She then
said "3 dogs Pottery, here's your number, next". When I objected, she
told me it was too late to change it because that's what she had put in
the computer and I was holding up the line. She said that if I wanted to
change it I could go to the end of the line and reapply. Luckily I was
unarmed at the time. So that's it. 3 dogs Pottery. I will never go back
down there..ever...everrr.
I will give you a call and set something up for the next time that I am
down your way.

Thanks
