I will be visiting Colorado next week, specifically Denver and Salida
(and areas thereabout).
Any suggestions on Potters/Studios that welcome visitors?

Hello all,
The good news is: my husband and I are relocating from Cleveland, OH to
Colorado Springs, CO.
The bad news is: we don't know of any potters/ceramic artists in the
Colorado area!
I am about to graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Art's ceramics
department, and my professors don't know of many clay folks in CO.
If you are from Colorado/were from Colorado/know any clay artists from
Colorado, please let me know....I am trying to establish contacts in the
area and am interested in possible studio partners (I have my own kiln and
wheel).
I hear that it's a very creative area of the country and would love to
talk with some fellow clay lovers.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Elizabeth
Welcome to Colorado. I live in Arvada, a suburb of Denver. There are
several potters guilds in the area and quite a few potters, so you
shouldn't have any trouble finding clay people. I have a studio at
the Arvada Ceramic Arts Guild and you are sure welcome to stop by
anytime.
A clay show that's coming up where you could meet quite a few potters
is the Colorado Clay show. It opens March 18 at the Foothills Art
Center in Golden.
In Colorado Springs, the Van Briggle Pottery has been there since
1899, they might be able to give you some insight into potters and
suppliers in the Colorado Springs area.
We've had a fantastic winter so far here in Denver, no snow and the
temps been averaging in the 50s - although the mountains have been
getting record amounts of snow.
The good thing about living next to the mountains - you can always
tell what direction is west - very helpful.
Best wishes
Connie Christensen

Just finished redesigning my website and have photos of a new glaze
on it - and it's not shino.

Hi Elizabeth -
We are glad to have you! Come check us out at the Arvada Ceramic Arts Guild We are a great
group of potters with studio spaces and a gallery. Our Artist in Residence is Connie Christensen (of
shino glaze fame). Also, you can visit me where I work at Mile Hi Ceramics. We manufacture over
30 clay bodies and carry all sorts of tools, equipment and supplies for potters.
See you soon...

Elizabeth,
My experience is 10 years old but when I lived in CO
there were several co-ops in Manitou Springs which is a
short distance from Colorado Springs.
One place was called Filthy Wilma's the other is on the main drag
in town and has lots of local potter's work. Sorry I do not recall
the name of that shop. I'm sure you will have no trouble finding other
potters.
Do tour the Van Briggle site.

Hi Elizabeth,
I'm re replying on list since obviously none of the list member know about
this fantastic resource. As I said, Tony Heslop, one of the founders is
maybe the best stoneware thrower in the country.
