axner oxyprobe comment and query

Hello Clayart,

Someone was asking for feedback on oxyprobes. I have one from Axner Supply
which I bought in October 1997. I fire about 75% in oxidation to ^04, 25%
in reduction to ^6. A few weeks ago, after about 100 firings, the meter
stopped functioning, so I sent the whole thing back to Axner for repair.

They replaced the meter, citing their five-year warranty on the
electronics, as well as the cracked porcelain housing, on which there was
no warranty. No charge. I'd say they stand behind their products. They also
told me that the platinum wire looked fine to them, so I got a free
physical on it to boot.

Though the probe gives you data, you need the wit to use it. Today's kiln
was full of livery red tests, from my hovering around .60 on the Axner
scale ... anybody care to share the value that works for their copper reds?

Jeff
