Hi:

Tom Constans asked about balanced clays and if I could mention some of the
ones I know. Balanced to me means well formulated.

I haven't used or had to test many commercial clays lately so I really don't
have a lot of info. I have my porcelain body mixed by Clayart Center in
Tacoma. I've used their Grolleg Porcelain for cone 10 and it is a very good
porcelain body. They are reliable and take care of biz. I would think that
their clays are some of the best around. When I worked at a local art
center as potter in residence I tested a lot of commercial bodies and
Clayart Center's were well made and pretty trouble free. That was 10 plus
years ago. My wife used their BC6 white stoneware for cone 5-6 and likes
it. Tony Hansen's 5 x 20 Perfect Clear for cone 5-6 fits this body and
gives great results.

Georgies in Portland makes all kinds of claybodies and a lot of them were
formulated by Pat Horsley, who I trust to the Nth degree to formulate good
bodies.

That's about it. I posted this message a couple of days ago and it must
have been ground up and trashed by the cosmic widget, so here it is again.
