Julianne,

I am another fan of Beatice Wood's. I've read her autobiography, too, and had
done some research on her, prior to a planned trip to So. Calif earlier this
year, when I heard the news of her death.

We stopped by Ojai anyway, and were much amazed by her pots and the lusterous
finishes. I did not stop by Otto's studio, but next time I'm in the area I
plan on it.

If you can't visit Otto Heino in person, perhaps you might enjoy a
visit to his website.

Regarding Beatrice, I rember a story told by one of my compadres in the
SJSU ceramics studio. He had a job which took him on the road during
the summer. He was in Ventura and decided to attempt a meeting with
Beatrice. He want to Topa Topa and knocked on the door. Now this is
back in the 60's and he was a young and handsom hunk of a college
student. Bea responded to his knock and nearly dragged him out of his
shoes inviting him into her abode. They had a wonderful conversation
and she invited him to return for dinner! It ends there.
