black slip glaze with gold flecks

updated fri 21 aug 98

Jeff--
I have a simple black slip glaze that has gold flecks in it. The glaze
contains about 90% local earthenware and about 10% coarse wood ash. The ash
fluxes the glaze and creates a rich black color (actually a very dark
brown). The coarser ash particles melt into tiny gold flecks of various
sizes.
This glaze works well in both oxidation & reduction, cone 9-11. It looks
best when fired to at least cone 10.

good luck
