Would anyone know where I could find some books on Hans Coper. Our local
Library has nothing on him and I cant find anything else on him
anywhere.
TIA

Leon--
I picked up a book on him a few years ago at a flea market. I believe this is
the only book that has been done solely on him. It was published in the late
60's. Very good photos. It's titled "Hans Coper". Don't have the book at my
desk so I can't give you the author. It is out of print I believe, but you
should be able to look it up on the ABC exchange web page for out-of-print
books. Steve Branfman might know more about it.

I have a book, Lucie Rie and Hans Coper - Potters in Parallel published by
Herbert Press, an imprint of A and C Black (Publishers) Limited, 35 Bedford
Row, London WC1R 4JH England. This was published in association with
Barbican Art Gallery on the occasion of the exhibition (same title) held
February - May 1997. ISBN 0-7136-4697-7
The book has lots of wonderful full colour photographs of pots plus an
introduction and essays titled; Back in London - A contemporary response,
Contemporary Design of the 1950's - Rie and Coper in context, Degrees of
Influence - Marks of success and Industry and Invention - Technical and
aesthetic developments
The bibliography has many references, email me directly if you want more
information. I'm off on holiday so will be nomail for a while.

I picked up a 2 volume set, 1 of Hans Coper and 1 on Lucie Rie at the Met in
New York about 4 or 5 years ago when they had a Coper / Rie exhibition on.
These are large scale well done books with many photos and tons of info on each.
Steve Branfman at the Potters shop has them listed seperatly at $45. each,
the author is Tony Birks
