Lee- Here is a recipe posted last year. It is truly Noxema bottle blue. I
don't know how it will look on your clay, but it is not subtle.

NOXEMA BLUE Cone 4-6

Custer Feldspar 38.1
Dolomite 10.0
EPK 9.6
Silica 9.5
Gerstley Borate 9.5
Zinc Oxide 9.4
Cobalt Carb 3.5

Mix thin to easily see the outline of fingernail. THIN coat as it runs and a
little goes a long way.

In another vein ..... back in the sixties when I left high school, I would
have given anything to go to the College of Art but my parents refused to
allow me to go to school with a bunch of hippies and learn useless stuff. I
ended up in the school of business-one of two females in the class.

Over the years I often wondered about the path not taken etc., and envied
those who actually got to study art for years. To me it seemed like heaven.

Now, when I read this list, I sometimes want to send Mom a Thank You note.

I run my own pottery like a business and have had the honor of being taught
by working professional potters grounded in reality. In the finest tradition
of "craft" they have passed on to this apprentice the skills and glory of
pottery along with the reality of what it takes to earn a living at it.

As an added bonus I know for a fact I have missed out on months of art vs
craft vs truth vs beauty discussions.
