I will be trying to create a small web page with photos from the post cards
I
purchased at the museum store. There was also an informative pamphlet
written
with children and families in mind. It explains his uses of the images he
chose for decoration. I'll let you know as soon as the site is available.

Just a quick thought here that might save you from some potential legal
entanglements:

Reproducing photos like those on the postcards (or pictures out of books,
etc.) you refer to is most likely a violation of copyright law unless you
have the express permission of the copyright holder.....and preferably in
writing. I would think that it is highly unlikely that those postcards are
not copyrighted.

Look for a very tiny C in a circle and a date or the word Copyright and a
date somewhere on the cards. I'd be very suprised if it is not there.

Putting illegal photo copies in such a public venue as the Web increases
the odds that someone who has a vested interest in the work in question
will stumble on the site. The fines stipulated by the law are sunstantial.

As to the written material, Fair Use law allows you to quote a small
section of text out of a book or article as long as it is properly
credited..... but not a substantial part or the entirety of the work.

Yes, I'm going around and around with his problem. I jumped to excitedly soon
to think that I could just put anything up and call it a web page.....I've
retracted that thought, and will most likely not be doing this after all.

I know, I know!!!

Thanks. = }
