I work at a local art studio that offers 112 as one of its clay
bodies. Our experiece has shown that 112 is prone to cracks, also we
have noticed that green glazes or any glaze with alot of copper in it
increases the problem( more cracks ). My suggestion is to eather call
Standard and ask them or to make your own speckled body.
Personally, I like the 306 body, so when I recycle my clay I make my
own speckled body. I take a 5 gallon bucket of my trimmings that has
the consistancy of smooth chocolate pudding. To this I add a tablespoon
of maganese, which I mix with a drill. I then dry the clay and pug as
usual. So far I have not had any trouble with this body cracking.
Hope this helps
Jeff
