I have a deal to buy small bottles of Duncan Glazes for 1.00 a bottle. How
much are they normally and or they good glazes?

These might be a very good deal..... but check CAREFULLY the label number
on the various containers, and cross check to current and old Duncan
catalogs. If they are older glazes, they may very well be heavily lead
based glazes. Even some of the current line is, I think, lead containing.
Almost all lowfire reds will contain both lead and cadmium (one exception
is gold chloride based enamels).

Not sure about Duncan speciffically, but in some cases the newer lead free
or lower lead containing glaze has the same NAME as the older lead based
glaze...... only the number changed.

If they contain lead (and/or cadmium)... you increase the hazard to
yourself in the studio, and if you sell your wares you then have federal
(and California) standards for lead release to which you must comply. You
also have customers who are depending on your knowledge to keep them
unharmed.

So it is a great deal if the glazes are really what you think they are.

Best,
