A quick question for members in the in Australia and New Zealand.
We are trying to find out what "Eckalite" is so that we can source a UK
equivalent for a customer.

Just to add a brief note to Sheryls reply, Being virtually pure kaolinite,
Eckalite is refractory and contains no free quartz unlike many ceramic-use
white clays
The iron and titanium content is in the average range for white china clays.
I think it could easily be substituted by a number of ordinary english
china clays. Note though, white clays with significantly less titanium are
available for those who want to eliminate the muddying effect of this oxide,
eg: if you were aiming at producing a blue celadon.
Eckalite is distributed in Australia by ECC (English China Clays Ltd) and
the fact that they may not carry it in Britain is evidence that it is not
superior to many locally available alternatives.
