Hi,
I'm knew to the list and am going to buy an electric kiln. I have narrowed =
it
down to either an Evenheat Rampmaster or a ConeArt. PLEASE HELP=21=21 I =
don't know
enough about either to decide which though. Does anyone have any experience
with either of these? Good or Bad. I need to fire to Cone 10 and my =
biggest
concern is an even firing.

Thanks=21=21=21

I had a evenheat self firing kiln, with 3 inch brick top and bottom, loved the
results but had bad cracking in the top] fire cone 10 crystalline glazes only]
and it did not hold up real good the place I bought it at bought it back but
would not sell me any other kiln to replace it . {after six months and 6 trips
out to repair it} They did not want to repair it again while it had six
months left on their guarantee, and it really was more a cone 9 kiln than a
10. They told me that I would have to deal with the company direct, called
them and they said that the brick could be replaced with a harder type but
it would not have the insulating ablities of the softer brick , this was not
acceptable because the kiln really worked very hard to reach cone 10. Have
you considered a skutt self fireing kiln {they have a production one that goes
to cone ten regularly and quickly or so they say, ] I have a self fireing
skutt that goes to cone 10 pretty good, does not struggle has hard as the
evenheat did and havvery nice results with my glazes. There aare some minor
hir line cracks in the 3 in. lid and on the bottom but nothing like the bad
cracks in the even heat. I really like the computer in the kiln and would not
buy akiln with out it. Well that was my 2 cents hope it helps Dave

Hi JP...GET a CONE ART kiln...I got one last year, firing cone 10, and it
is the best kiln going. Just talk to Frank Tucker..he is on the clayart
list. Frank Tucker's email: Frank Tucker
He's a potter and knows what potters want in a kiln so made the CONE ART
kiln. You won't be sorry and they are worth every penny. Shimpo is now
selling them but go to the main man first and get some info. from Frank.

I bought an Evenheat three years ago after years of buying Crusaders. I'm VERY
happy with this kiln. The construction and insulation are excellent. It has
held up through three years of almost daily firing (but I do only fire bisque
to cone 06) with very little deterioration on the lid edges.

I don't know where you are planning to buy it but if you call Reynold's Studio
(Priority Supply) and talk to Ron Reynolds in Lansing, MI you can probably get
an extremely good price.
