Hi
If you haven't tried a foam rubber cone for triming then you are missing the
boat, beats a giffen on most counts except odd shapes.

Could you please elaborate on this "foam rubber cone". This is something I've
not run across in the 30 odd books I do own.

Bryan,
Your foam rubber cone for trimming sounds intriguing. Would you give
us some details....did you make it? is it glued to a bat? I have made a
foam-covered bat with felt-penned rings every half inch which I use for
plates, bowls, etc. and find much quicker and easier to use than the Giffin.

Bryan -
I am interested in your message about a "foam cone". What are the
dimensions? Where do you go to get one?

Will you please describe further, dimensions, kind of foam, sculpted out of

Is this "foam cone" an imaginary being....... or does
someone really have some useful information about
how one can be made purchased?

I saw a foam cone (styrofoam) at the craft store Michaels. I assume this is
what the writer referred to. At first, I thought they meant foam, as in
upholstery material and I couldn't figure out how that would support a pot;
but if it's styrofoam that's another story. They make those for people to use
as a base for table decorations, etc.

Brigita,
I haven't used the foam cone, but I assume the potter who suggested it is
using a styrofoam cone. These are available at craft supply stores and are
used as bases for artificial floral arrangements--particularly Christmas
tree-type arrangements.

Dear Bryan,
Where did you buy your foam rubber cone? Or did you make
it yourself? Seems to me it would have to be stiffer than normal
foam rubber or mounted on a hard base. Please explain.
Thanks, Debby Grant in NH

Did Bryan ever give any additional information about the foam cone, apart
from the fact that it is rubber. Bryan if you are out there, I think there
are several of us who would love to know what exactly this is and where one
can get it.
Thanks in advance.
