I am new to Clayart and wonder if anyone out there does what I do to
glazes....I paint them on then rub them off to bring out
textures...words...stamped designs....etc. I fire to cone 04, and have had
great success using bronze and black glazes. I am becoming very frustrated
trying to achieve a nice green glaze.....once I rub it off, the surface of the
clay (white earthenware) seems to turn pinkish. I have tried using taupe
underglaze, rubbed off, then the green gloss glaze, rubbed off...but the
effect is still not what I am looking for. Any ideas out there? Thanks,

Kathryn:
You said that you were new to clayart, but I'm not sure what your background is.
The word "rub" makes me think you are doing this by hand? as in with your finger
There maybe/are chemicals in some glazes that you should not be doing that too.
They are harmful and may be adsorbed throught the skin. Bronze could be manganes
and black would probably have some cobalt in it and the green if it's turning pi
may have chrome.
Anyway, pull out your thick skin because you'll get all types of replies when yo
write here. Most are trying to be helpful. :)
