hi-bond clay body consistency

I have been asked to oversee the quality control for the manufacture
of these bodies formerly made in Vancover, BC.
I am still being told that they have always been perfectly consistent,
that there is no need for ongoing testing or adjustments to recipes
to compensate for variations in raw materials. Since I have had such
bad experiences with variations in kaolins, ball clays, bentonites,
fireclays, etc I am uncomfortable about this to say the least.

Are there any users of HI-BOND out there who could give me some
feed back on this? Could it possibly be true? The recipes of these
bodies use refined materials typical in the industry and most recipes
have some redundancy built in. I'm not trying to 'dig up dirt' on these
bodies, I just want to satisfy my conscience toward customers on
this matter.
