Hi All!
My students just had their semiannual pottery sale and decided to
buy kiln shelves for the studio. I want to try and get the most
shelves we can with their money, and would like to know if y'all
feel that silicon carbide is the best option. Our current
shelving is silicon carbide for the gas kiln.
There has been some discussion here of high-alumina shelving as
well as some other materials which are cheaper than silicon
carbide, but I doubt we'll ever get the chance to buy so many at
once, so I'd like to get some with reliable long-term
performance. We fire to cone 10 in reduction.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Erin.
