Subject: INFRA RED HEATING

Hi

I think this question may have been asked in the past....but if so, I =
can
not find any reference to any answers.... Is anyone currently working in a
studio that has an infra-red heating system installed??... we have an old
building with a big steam heating boiler and looking at putting in a new =
heating
system..and infra red has been suggested as the way to go... I would really
appreciate hearing from anyone that has experience or knowledge before =
giving
the go ahead... thank you

Hi Jo Ann,

These systems comn\e in many different forms but do work very well for
heating large areas such as studios, gyms, shops, etc. Some have a
ceramic shell on which natural gas or propane is burned heating the
ceramic to Red Heat. The ceramic than reradiates the heat in the IR
region. Another very effective system is a large black pipe, usually 4"
in diameter which is suspended from the ceiling in racetrack fashion. A
blower and natural gas connects at one end and the other end exits the
building. The burning gas within the pipe heats the pipe and IR is
radiated into the work space. Very effective, safe, cleaner than forced
hot air, and inexpensive.
