HI,
If you use Quickbooks, consider using the "Pending Sale" feature. Enter all
orders as "Pending Sales", then when it ships you "Mark as Final". At any
time you can print a list of all items in "Pending Sales" sorted to taste,
i.e. all items on order but not shipped yet.
Not quite as slick as taco bell but they fire their orders a lot faster ...
