>Reply: Check the ampere or current rating on your kiln. If it draws less
than 30 Amps you could probably get away with a dryer cord.
If it draws between 30 and 45 Amps, use a stove cord . Anything higher than
45 amps, I would suggest you get in touch with an electrician to install
the proper sized cable. Also, if the cable has any chance of getting
scuffed or damaged, then go to armoured cable.

Hi Adam:
If you are not sure what you are doing electrically, please call an
electrician! We do not want to hear down the road your studio/house has
burned down.
You must find out how many amps your kiln draws.
Dryer cords are typically 40 amps, range cords are typically 50 amps (cheap
from a hardware store).
If your kiln draws say 50 or 60 amps and you use a cord rated to 40 amps
you are asking for big problems. This also applies for the plug and socket.
They are also rated for amps.
If you want to do in yourself, please ask someone in the know, or go to an
industrial electical suppy store and ask some questions, taking the old
cord with you (hardware store staff generally do not)
Play safe with hydro!!!!!

Adam,
Contact a distributor who carries your brand of kiln.
I have Skutt kilns and have replaced 2 cords, which
I got from NY/NJ Ceramic Supply, in case you
also have a Skutt.
