kitch vs. art

Kitsch is the backbone of American culture. As an American artist,
especially one that chooses to express ideas about American culture,
kitsch is unavoidable.

I, myself am dealing with issues of American culture and have chosen to
embrace kitsch. One may argue that these "pop" images are more
inclusive; whereas highly conceptual art can become highly pretentious
art.

Are Mac Donald's golden arches not sculptural? Just because a form is
accessible to the masses should not exclude it from appreciation as an
art form.

As previously mentioned, Warhol and others have made this argument
successfully.
