Yes a twisted wire is great for cutting off pots. It leaves a
aesthetically (sp?) pleasing mark on the bottom of the pot and it also
helps the clay release from the wheel head with ease. We sometimes use the
wiggle when cutting off the pot. The wheel head is still and you move the
wire back and forth while cuttin thru. gives a nice wave pattern on the
bottom.
We use #15 airplane lead wire from a hobby shop. It's the stuff you use for
remote control airplanes. the fish that Minnesota Mel catches in the the
States we would use for bait, consequently we use tougher stuff. The lead
wire comes in 50 ft rolls and will last you a life time. It does not kink
or knot and makes the very best twisted wires.
Twisted wires for twisted minds.
