Some time ago there were some posts on misting fountains.
I have been making fountains for some time and recently saw
a beautiful table top fountain that misted. I know where to get
pumps but don't know how to achieve the mist. Is it done with
a special pump or is something added to the water? I would
appreciate it very much if someone could tell me how to
achieve the mist and where I can purchase the mechanism
that causes it.
Thanks in advance, Debby Grant in NH

Debby,
I haven't a clue about the mechanics of a fogger, but you can buy one from:
Lou Davis Wholesale catalog 800-748-7991. It's called the Tropical Cloud
Fogger - regular price $39.95 / on sale for $34.95. Fairly spendy, but it
beats dry ice.....

The mist is made by an ultrasonic peizoelectric crystal device that is
sometimes sold as a humidifier for frogs, salamanders and other creatures
kept as pets. Check a pet store selling reptiles. I got one about 3 years
ago to make a miniature smoking volcano for an orchid show in San
Francisco. As far as I can remember it was made in the orient, Taiwan I
think. It cost us about $70. At the show one of the orchid dealers in
Chinese Cymbidiums approached me and said he had them for sale about 10
dollars cheaper for use in humidifying Wardian cases - a sort of terrarium
used with gro-lamps to grow delicate small orchids or carnivorous plants
indoors. These things were tried as humidifiers for sick rooms also but I
could not find one at our local drugstores when I was looking.

Debby ..... in the current Lou Davis catalog there is a Tropical Cloud
Fogger for ceramic fountains. The price is $34.95. If you don't need the
fogger, maybe they could help you out. Their number is 800-748-7991, 8:00

Don't know if it will help. I use a mister on my Bonsai's and it's from
a company called DIP Corporation out of San Marcos, Ca Their web site
is: www.digcorp.com
I've only used the misters pointed in the down position. I bet that
pointed in the up position and lighted properly they would be just
super.
GOOD LUCK!

Hi everyone! Some time ago I remember a discussion about fountains that
put out a fine mist. I have looked in the archives but I can't find any
information. Can someone direct me to where I can purchase a misting
fountain? Many thanks!! Nancy

Nancy,
The message was:
"you can buy one from:
Lou Davis Wholesale catalog 800-748-7991. It's called the Tropical Cloud
Fogger - regular price $39.95 / on sale for $34.95. " Don't know what
the current price is - may even be cheaper now.
