Hi Eleanora:
While I have never been a vendor at the Montreal x-mas art
fair, I have attended many times. It is the 1st weekend
of December annually.
It is a high quality affair with wide isles, carpets, soft music
and very juried work - no plastic canvas or kits in sight ;-)
I send for a prospectus(?) as I was interested in being a vendor.
They have VERY strict rules re: booths. What bothers me most: your
booth is rented from them. They also charge you for setting up
said booths. Lighting again is charged. Access to the hall is
via the cargo area and unless you have a truck-height tailgate,
you need to lug your stuff up stairs to the freight elevator.
Of course, they do offer you the option of sending your work on
ahead, which they will gladly receive (for a fee, of course!).
I am very familiar with the cargo/loading areas as the prestigious
Montreal Christmas Cat Show is the same weekend. I've always found
it to be a royal pain in the @$$ to have to hoist all my equipment
up the stairs and then drag to the elevator - which, by the by, can
only be run by one of their union guys....so if they're on break,
or at lunch, everything grinds to a halt.
Another thing in their "book of rules" was the limiting of vendors
from outside the province. They have a large charge for submittal
of slides (non-refundable, of course) and if they have already accepted
their quota of "aliens", oh well :( My best suggestion to you is to
contact Place Bonaventure in downtown Montreal, and ask them to send
you their "book of rules" IN ENGLISH (specify, or you *will* recieve
it in french).
I can not speak for sales at the show. It has always been well attended
by the public....that's all I know fer shure.

Hiya Sam
Thanks for the info. I was told it went on the whole month of December so
I guess he was wrong. Was thinking about going and checking it out.
Sounds like a royal pain in the butt.
Maybe next year if you think of it give me a holler in advance and I'll
make a point to go up and see it.
Eleanora.....
