A favorite glaze of mine has manganese in it and I would like to use this
on the outside wall of mugs with a food safe non-toxic glaze as the liner.
Will the temperature of the liquid encourage leaching of the exterior
glaze? Would the thickness of the wall deter this possibility? Help again!

The only glazes that are a leaching problem when used on the outside
of the ware are those that contain ingredients that fume all over the kiln
during firing. Examples are lead and chrome. These can put out enough
fume to settle throughout the kiln including on the insides of ware.
