As an aside, first, I was unable to keep up with the NCECA web site, and
NCECA now has a person designated to do that, so hopefully it will
change soon, and you'll find information there. I'll post the address to
ClayArt once it's updated.

I don't recall seeing a reminder about this, but I may have missed it.
Just in case, here's an early reminder about applying for this. These
scholarships are funded by the cup sale at the annual conference. You
have never seen a more hotly discussed or enthusiastically attended
event at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts annual
meeting. Anyone wanting to donate a cup is welcome, and cups are priced
by the donator. I suspect info will show up on the web site at some
point. The cups are on display thru Weds. and Thurs., with everyone in
to see who donated, and who made swell cups. Everything from the big and
famous to cups by beginning ceramists that so much heart in the you
treasure them. Friday the cups are sold. People have cued up in the dark
of night to be first in line. Sale frenzy. If you haven't thought about
making a cup to take or send, you should think about it. The cups are
really a focus at the conference, and it's a great cause.

Here's info from Elaine Henry, NCECA board member, about the
scholarship:

Deadline for the next fellowship applications is November
13, 1998.

Any full-time undergraduate student matriculating in
a degree program at an accredited college, university or art institute
in the U.S., who has attained the status of at least a "junior."
There is no age limit.

Up to three awards of $1,800 will be made at
the 33rd Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio, March 17-20, 1999.
(The first $1,400 of each award will be given at that time, with the
remainder given upon NCECA's receipts of the student's project
report.)
