one time firing?

updated fri 13 nov 98

MOORE, Robert J. on fri 6 nov 98

I have been experimenting with glaze formulas to achive a nice base glaze
for cone 6 in an oxidation atmosphere.(two firings)

I also would like to develop a base for one time firing in a cone 6
atmosphere.
What percentage of albany slip or similar clays should I be starting with
for this one time firing glaze.
If you could also give me some names of clays that will work, as far as
properties, like albany , it would be appriciated.
Thanks for the information, I let you know what develops..

Try adding 1=25 veegum t or cmc to the dry glaze base. It should be the =
only
thing you need to do, then fire slower. I have never had to modify a glaze
recipe to make it work on greenware.
