Strengthening creative self discovery through the development of a ceramic
vessel series is the focus of this workshop. The resonance of language into
three dimensional form and the excitement of the rapid fire raku technique is
the path for this process-centered, reflective seminar. Participants will be
led through a sequence of hand forming exercises to create a series of ceramic
pieces inspired by an imaginative word. Individual attention and encouragement
will accompany technical instruction. On Friday, Mr. Caughy will present a
slide review of the history of the raku technique traced from Zen tradition to
modern innovation.
